Rugby Town Ladies Development kicked off their brand new season at Kilsby Lane against Redditch Borough Ladies Development with a new team, new players & new league.
Just the eleven players turned up to start the game, no subs and with a team only playing together for the third time, it was going to be very interesting to see how they coped with their first open age football match against well regarded & established opponents.
It was pleasing to see that the team coped really well and did not look at all out of place. We may have not scored & we may have not won, but from what I saw we have the foundations to build a team that can more than compete at this level.
As the Redditch assistant said, ‘none of the team let their heads drop’, and at times we played some very good football. A little work on communication required, but that will come in time through hard work & training.
