The U13s started their season with a hard-fought victory at Bottesford. All 13 players who made the long trip played their part in the win in an end-to-end game of football.
With this being their first 9-a-side game & the very first time they had all played together as a team, a perfect performance was never going to be expected but there were many positives in the way they played & they deserved to come out on top.
After conceding the first goal, Rugby didn’t lose belief & attacked with energy all through the match and created plenty of chances. The opposition did exactly the same resulting in a high-scoring game & despite conceding 4 goals, the defenders and keeper played very well and contributed as much as the attacking players.
More familiarity will come with teammates and positions as the weeks progress and the players will benefit from playing regular matches now. The team should be excited that they did very well today and will no doubt perform even better in the future.
A very positive platform to build on and the players should be proud of their achievements today.
Final score Bottesford 4 – 6 Rugby Town Girls FC
Goals from Molly (4), Lexy and Charlie
