Rugby Town Ladies FC Development v West Bromwich United Ladies

Again low numbers hit the ladies development team, with just ten players being available for the match against West Bromwich United.

In past weeks the team were guilty of giving away an early goal, but this weekend was different, the ten players held firm & did not give anything away until at least the 26th minute, this is after Emily had hit the cross bar & also forced a save from the keeper from a free kick.

It is always going to be difficult when you have a player down & at times Rugby played with nine due to players being off the pitch injured. With the extra player & Rugby chasing the game, West Bromwich put the game out of reach to earn themselves victory.

Rugby far from disgraced themselves in this game & if we had equal numbers I believe the final score would have been a lot closer.

We have to put into context what we are trying to achieve in the ladies development team, we have formed a new team & we are laying down the foundations to build that team, without solid foundations we cannot build that team. Once the foundations have been built then we can think about putting up the walls, but it takes time. We must continue to work at bonding as a side, work on the things that are going wrong at training, but more importantly forget about results for now and just enjoy it – we are not saving lives, it is football!

Player of the Match awarded to Natasha Beadle, another outstanding performance in goal, even ventured into midfield at one point!
