Bottesford Berries u8s v Rugby Town Girls u8s Wildcats

On a VERY cold and VERY windy morning 5 girls arrived with big smiles on their faces as they do every week. With none of our defenders able to to attend this week it was down to every girl to step up today and they did amazing.

Bottesford had a good supply of subs and were able to renew their team every 10 minutes.
Again I want to express to the girls and their parents how proud I am of these girls, yes they had a couple of moans but they had a couple of successes. We had a couple of kicks to legs and a few moments on the ground, but they dusted themselves off and got back up.

Chloe and Freya worked well together up front, with Megan and Anna taking up the rear – even if they did forget occasionally that they were supposed to be defending. Megan and Anna both made some great runs forward aiding Freya and Chloe in their attack. I am sure they all loved playing a full game but I am sure they will be glad of the return of their team mates next week.

It wasn’t the result they deserved but considering they couldn’t rest and had to fight gale force winds during the 2nd half they battled until the end and merrily skipped back to warm cars and heated seats.

Player of the match went to Matilda for some superb goal keeping skills.

Thank you to my right and left hand men Stu and Simon, oh and Austin for teaching Freya everything she knows 😉
