Rugby Towns U10’s second away game in succession, playing onan overcast morning as we lined up to play Epworth Forest Foxes. The gameopened as expected with the home team operating effectively and with highenergy predominately in the Town defensive half. The extent of this pressure inthe early stages gave Epworth the initial advantage but slowly the Rugby girls clawedtheir way back into the match and started to effectively attack the Epworth endwith several fast paced and skilful attacking moves. This was also supportedwith some percentage possession, shape and good team understanding, whichensured that we proficiently and expertly moved the ball out of defence andmidfield into the attacking quarter. As the first half came to its end with therefs whistle, there was little to separate both teams in this entertaining endto end, hardworking first half.

The second half kicked off in direct comparison to the firsthalf with Rugby Town taking the game directly to Epworth Forest, with someexcellent wide and cutting in play. Town built on this and when any counter breakawaymoments occurred the defensive and goalkeeping line kept strong to minimise thethreat of a very well organised and hardworking home team. As the match came toits natural conclusion both teams took equal amounts from the game, in what wasdescribed by the parents as a thrilling and entertaining encounter.

In summary, this was another strong performance from the Towngirls who are all evolving to play some excellent and exciting 7 asidefootball. The increase in actual game time on the pitch and working as adefined unit is also benefiting team understanding and positional play. Theteam are at their best when they are passing and moving the ball effectivelyaround the pitch and this game again had some great passing highlights. Welldone girls, great game.

POM: Esme, whotypically plays wing or forward when not in goal, played in left back and madesome brilliant tackles and forward passes to set the foundation for some greatlink up play. Also for having strong second half goal performance.

PPOM: Emilia, Endto end fantastic display whilst also helping to support team mates at alltimes.
