BRIXWORTH JUNIORS VS RUGBY TOWN UNDER 12S WILDCATS

TEAM: Evelyn, Skye, Rosie, Zara, Carly, Lois, Ava, Emma (Captain), Charlotte and Lily.
1ST HALF:
Rugby town kick off. A bit of a change around in midfield and defence this week, with Carly playing right wing and Ava in central defence.
Evelyn plays it to Carly but Brixworth are quick on the ball and are on the attack but it’s offside. Lily kicks out to Skye who is domineering the wing with Carly by her side, and who has Evelyn and Zara in support. Brixworth have a throw in but they lose out to Zara who is commanding centre midfield with Ava.
Carly and Evelyn are playing well up front keeping the pressure on Brixworth’s defence, but Brixworth are too quick for them and are on the attack again. Carly chases down the wing and manages to kick out which gives Brixworth a corner. The defence consisting of Emma and Lois put pressure on them and Rugby get a goal kick. Zara is on hand to get a short ball from Lily who passes to Skye, with Carly crossing into the centre. A Rugby shot is saved!
The ball is kicked into Brixworth’s half but Lily comes out too early and a mistake is made, and she accidentally gives a free kick. It is taken quickly, Rugby’s defence freezes… but luckily Brixworth hit the crossbar and Rugby Town heave a sigh of relief.
Rugby Town are back on the attack and putting on pressure with Skye commanding the play with the help of Evelyn and Zara. Skye goes down clutching her head and a free kick is awarded, a Rugby Town forward takes it but it goes agonisingly wide.
15 minutes gone and Brixworth are on the attack, Ava tries to keep control but their closing down is too much and there’s the 1st goal, 1-0 Brixworth.
Carly is substituted to make way for Charlotte who is making her debut, she is quick to help Skye who puts pressure on Brixworth’s defence. Evelyn gets a free run but shoots wide, so close!
Rugby Town keep creating chances but the front line is unsuccessful on numerous occasions, the Brixworth defence is holding firm! And Brixworth make them pay going up the other end and scoring again, 2-0.
Rugby Town are maintaining their confidence and effort with Zara dropping into central defence and Ava in centre midfield. Rosie, Emma and Lois are keeping the defence as tight as they can, they are not letting them beat them.
2ND HALF:
Substitute made: Rosie off, Carly on to replace her.
Brixworth kick off but lose the ball to Evelyn. Skye helps out and a Rugby forward goes on her own and scores, 2-1. Skye is in pain from going down in the 1st half so is replaced with Lois who drops back into defence, with Charlotte on the wing who passes to Evelyn and she scores, 2-2. The team talk at half time has helped with them putting up the courage to keep their heads held high and never give up!
10 minutes gone and Brixworth make 4 substitutes, they put more pressure on the defence consisting of Rosie (who replaces Emma) and Zara, but Brixworth’s forward is too quick and scores through Lily’s legs. 3-2 Brixworth. More changes as they both drop back and push Lois and Carly into midfield, who show confidence and cover their ground energetically.
Rugby are on the attack again and Ava takes on Brixworth’s goalkeeper, she keeps her nerve and scores, 3-3. After scoring and using up too much energy, Ava is substituted to give herself a break with Skye who is now up front with Evelyn.
Brixworth’s forwards are showing great intensity but Zara and Carly are not letting them get past, by making great clearances and kicking out. Brixworth are dominating the game in the 2nd half, 20 minutes gone and another goal is scored 4-3. Less than a minute later a Rugby Town forward is on the attack by herself showing great dribbling and scores, 4-4. Honours even yet again!
Rugby are determined as a team to give all their strength and demonstrate a strong performance but with 26 minutes gone Lily gives Brixworth an opportunity to get a rebound, 5-4 Brixworth. Rugby Town kick off yet again with Skye putting pressure on, Brixworth kicks out allowing Ava to give a big strong thrown into a Rugby. Rugby keep on pressing but Brixworth are back on the attack, Lily makes a great save but they score again 6-4.
Rugby Town kick off and are on a quick break, dominating their own half, and hard works pays off as they bring it back to 6-5! With only minutes to spare both Rugby and Brixworth have their chances showing great ball control and determination, but Rugby finally lose touch and Brixworth attack and score another goal, 7-5!
Final whistle blows. Another great performance by everyone as they all played in different positions, showing confidence and effort. A great debut performance by Charlotte down the wing. Massive thanks to all the parents and supporters who gave their time to come and watch.
