Match report – Sunday 7th August 2022
Rugby Town U7s vs Mountsorrel U7s
A very warm morning at Butlin Road saw Rugby start their second game as a team with a strong group of players. The game gave the girls another good preparation opportunity for joining the league in a few weeks.
Rugby started the game very positivity with Sophie, who was playing her first game for Rugby, having the chance to get a few early runs down the pitch, with fantastic results. Sophie also had a range of good passes which really helped the team in midfield.
With a good start to the game the Rugby players seemed more confident as the game progressed with all players contributing well to the game with some excellent passing being shown off. It was Maisie B’s first game today and she started in defence. Maisie provided lots of great clearances and passes which helped the team enormously.
Charlotte also had a great game and particularly stood out in the second half when she went volunteered to go in goal. Charlotte got stuck in made lots of amazing saves. Ada, another defender who had a great game making great tackles and clearances. Ada played a third of the game in goal and was very impressive in this position as well.
Maisie F had an outstanding game today in several different positions. Maisie provided great passes, dribbling, and attacking runs. She was always in space ready for a pass and Maisie’s calling for the ball was great to see.
Florence started in midfield, linking up well Sophie and producing some great passing and had good spatial awareness. Florence had a standout moment with a very cheeky chip over the keeper, which was very nearly in, but Maisie F was there to finish the job.
Last but not least Primrose, who also had a great game with loads of energetic runs thought out the whole pitch, great link up play with different players and also some great defending.
Parents player: Sophie , a great debut for the team with a fantastic contribution to team performance
Coaches player: Primrose, another hugely energetic performance showing great game awareness and fantastic all round performance.
Well done to all the girls that played today. A great result of the team
