POM – Hollie

The girls won their second game of the season today after a solid performance full of togetherness and spirit. Cutting out the errors was key and Hollie (who played her first ever game in goal) was critical to the overall performance. The girls in front of her trusted her instincts and that along with two incredible saves won her both our and the opposition managers player of the match. Cara, Pauline and Soapy were superb in defence, winning the ball and covering for each other, but also having the composure to play out when they had the time to do so. Sophie C and Ellie dominated midfield in the first half, with Ellie naturally playing slightly deeper and allowing Sophie C to support Ruby in attack. Ruby held the ball up brilliantly and both Hav and Bailey had the better of the full backs as they delivered cross after cross. Ruby scored what turned out to be the decisive goal with a tremendous strike from 15 yards that cannoned off the inside of the post, leaving the keeper no chance…

…at the break Macy came on down the left, working hard and forcing her opposite number into mistakes, whilst Hev slotted into central midfield. The second half was much more even, with both teams having one or two excellent chances to score, Sophie C going close from a cross and Hev nearly scoring direct from a corner. But it was Hollie and her save from a free-kick which ultimately clinched the win, tipping a fierce drive onto the bar. A fantastic team effort today and another step in the right direction with regards to the girls philosophy. Passing, a high intensity, tenacity and positive thinking all played their part in a well earnt victory. Well done all and thanks to the parents for their wonderful support for the girls.
