Under 13’s Season 2021/22

Thank you to everyone who contributed to make a successful and enjoyable presentation Night.

On behalf of our U13’s Girls, I would like to Thank:-

Jason, Tony, Claire and Jo for giving us the opportunity to play football for the club and their hard work making this happen.

Our team sponsors Paw Prints Dog Rescue for financing our football kits, enabling the girls to showpiece their skills each week.

Tim Orford for setting out the excellent training drills. He makes training both enjoyable and educational for the girls and the attendance numbers each week justify that.  Tim was successful in his 6th application attempt in 10 years to start his UEFA B coaching course in September, so we look forward to seeing what new training ideas this opens up for the new season ahead.

Pierrick Belaire for assisting both Tim and myself at training and matchdays.  He also oversees the fitness levels of the girls and puts them through the paces to make sure they are fully warmed up for training and matches.

Learna Orford for our team administration.  A Lot of hard work goes on behind the scenes that others aren’t aware of to keep the team ticking over.  Contacting other clubs regarding match days and ensuring parents are happy with the coaches.

Bob Griffiths and James Flemming for always volunteering to run the line on matchdays.

Sonia Haynes for washing the kits and ensuring we have a clean fresh shirts for match days.

And lastly to the girl parents for their tremendous support home and away.  It’s so pleasing to hear them talk about how much the team has improved, continued support from the parents helps the team flourish and we look forward to more, getting involved in helping as match officials, first aid, photography and match day reporting.

Special mention to versatile Ruby for being the only player to play in every League, Cup and friendly game, in all the team positions for the season.

2021-22 Season Report

A decision was made during pre-season to push 5 of our strongest players up an age group, to not only challenge these girls in footballing terms but to also help Paul’s team to continue as a team as his numbers were sparse and were in danger of the team folding.

This did make our own team weaker, but made the ability of the remaining players even and gave a more balanced outlook to the side.  We were sure the girls would rise to the challenge and thrive in a successful season.  What we didn’t foresee, was before the season started, we were to lose Ruby V to Rugby Borough, taking with her any hopes of resigning Frankie.  Shania and Lily also left for reasons outside of football and the signing of Lily Mail never materialised.

For the season ahead, the girls worked extremely hard to compete in matches winning 2 drawing 1 and losing 9.  The games they lost were only by the odd goal, no more than 2 and this was mainly down to not having a recognized goalkeeper, 6 different players were used in this position. Fatigue also played apart as the girls tired at the end of each half due to starting most matches with 1 or no substitutes.  As other teams could virtually change half a team during the games this made a huge difference to the games.  At the beginning of the season, we were able to borrow Ria, Izzie and Aurora from the U12’s for a couple of weeks to make sure we had enough players to start matches.  Our girls’ heads never dropped and they continued to battle each match as a team.

As the season unfolded, the U14’s team collapsed and we resigned Soapy, Hev and Hav but lost Kiki and Afua.  The introduction of Macy and Hollie made an instant impact.  Macy’s try hard attitude seemed to lift the spirit of the team and we thought we had solved our goalkeeping crisis with Hollies matching winning performance against East Goscote.  However, this was short lived, as she showed during training, she had far too much energy and pace to be in goal and her skills could be utilized elsewhere to benefit the team.  Although the results for the season didn’t always go our way, the performances of the team improved every match.  The effort and dedication to training and matches has been there for all to see and the improvements made by every player has been vast.  Towards the end of the season, the introduction of Ria, Sofia, Amy, Ella, Chloe and Arlo, who now solves the goalkeeping problem, we can look forward to season 2022-23 with great optimism as we challenge the girls to compete for promotion.

Awards

Supporters Player

The parents obviously know their football as this player was a candidate for Coaches player of the year.  This player gives their all at training and we have to reign her in at matches as she strives to win the ball all over the pitch.  At the heart of our defence, she has taken a turn in goal and now using her speed and strength, has been challenged to lead the front line.

Our Supporters player of the year goes to Cara.

Players Player

This player has to gain the respect of the other players.  She has to be popular amongst her teammates both socially and the way she goes about training and matchdays.  Being heroic in matches, catching the eye, producing some outstanding moments, it’s easy to understand why she was chosen.

Our Players Player of the year goes to Hollie

Most Improved Player

All the players have improved in their own ways.  This player has stood out in a short space of time.  She listens clearly in training and attempts everything that is asked of her with 100% effort.  Matchdays, she is willing to play anywhere to help the team.  Her progression of virtually playing no football to her standard now has been immense.

Our Coaches Player of the year goes to Macy

Coaches Player

This player definitely leads by example.  The Mum to the team.  She gives her all for the team and then some.  Tough tackling in defence, marauding in attack, runs herself into the ground and carries on to give maximum effort.  This player is the first name on the team sheet.  When she talks the girls listen, a great help liaising with the parents to arrange assistant referees.

Our Coaches Player of the year goes to Soapy

Hard Work starts now as we prepare the squad for the forthcoming season
