Sunday’s match saw Rugby Town U10s host Epworth Forest U10 Panthers, and their first time playing each other since last summer. It was expected to be a tough match for Town against a strong Epworth, and both teams displayed some impressive football.
First half began with Eve starting her second game in goal, and brimming with confidence off her previous strong performance. Epworth started strong off the whistle, demonstrating their passing strength and good defense, including sharp goal keeping. Rugby Town covered the opposition well, closing them down when not in possession, and countering an attack quickly. Although Epworth managed the play with a bit more precision than the home team in the first half, the two teams were fairly even in gameplay.
The second half, however, was Rugby Town’s time to shine. In typical Rugby Town fashion, the team dug deep and worked hard as a team to create some brilliant positive play. The strong midfield of Emilia, Eve, And Sienna W made attacking difficult for Epworth, but it was the entire RT team from GK to striker, working together as a unit, that made the performance one of which each player, parent, and coach could be proud.
