Rugby made the trip up the M1 to Nottingham for their FA Cup match against Sherwood Women FC, playing out from Radford FC, a good setting for a women’s game with a level 4 referee and assistants meaning we could all just look after our teams.
No real clear-cut chances for either team came in the first competitive half of football and only a momentary lapse in concentration let Sherwood in for a goal mid-way through the 2nd half, Rugby had chances to put the ball away but with Sherwood’s keeper saving well.
A good game from two well-matched sides and a single goal to provide the difference played in the right spirit and we wish Sherwood Women FC all the best in the next round.
