A midday home match awaited Rugby Town U10s on this sunny, autumnal day.
Rugby arrived with a full squad, meaning there were plenty of opportunity to rotate the team and introduce fresh legs to the game.
Upon arrival, all girls looked sharp, full of energy, and eager to put into practice the passing drills which have recently been worked on in training.
Some highlights from the match included, and in no particular order:
- Some great defensive blocks and crisp passing from Maisie, who always positions herself superbly when playing in defense.
- Endless energy and tenacity by Flossi,e who made several impressive attacking runs down the left wing throughout the game. Flossie also volunteered to play as goalkeeper in the final quarter
- Ada is making some good defensive blocks, but also demonstrating some good link-up play when in an attacking position. Ada was a constant threat in midfield and played a quarter in goal, demonstrating some good goal kicks.
- Excellent positional play by Primrose, who made several wonderful runs at goal and made several crucial blocks in central midfield.
- Aaliyah was a constant threat in front of the goal and made some brilliant attacking runs throughout the match.
- Evie is having a marvelous game on the right midfield, battling well and making some excellent attacking runs towards goal.
- Phoebe is working hard in midfield, making some good tackles and showing good resilience. Phoebe played a quarter in goal.
- Charlotte played a variety of positions – making some good tackles and accurate passes in defense and being a menace to the opponent defenders when playing as striker in the last quarter.
- Lorna defended well and neutralized a number of the opponent’s attacks when needed.
- Strong running and tackling by Imogen, who also played the first quarter in goal, facilitated the team’s making a solid start to the game.
Overall, this was a hugely enjoyable one to watch, and credit to each of the girls for their hard work and effort.
The coach’s player of the match went to Evie.
Parents’ player of the match went to Flossie.
Players player of the match was awarded to Ada.
Thanks as always to parents/carers for their continued support. See you next week.
