FA Courses are Just a Box-Ticking Exercise!

No, they are not. And we can explain why…..

If you are ever unfortunate enough to have the big yellow bird land on your 3G, the FA courses that our coaches undertake will make the difference between a well-managed situation and something potentially much worse.

Recently, RTGWFC found themselves in an emergency situation when one of our junior players had an accident on the pitch during a league game that necessitated a call to the emergency services.
Thankfully, our players’ injuries were less severe than first feared, and they are well on their way to making a full recovery.

DID YOU KNOW?

All our primary coaches, alongside their coaching qualifications, complete the following FA courses:

> Safeguarding
> First Aid
> Concussion
> Sudden Cardiac Arrest

As a club, we are also working towards all our assistant coaches and team volunteers achieving the same level of completion.

RTGWFC supports volunteer development by covering the cost of all the FA courses.

This allows our volunteers to provide a safe and knowledgeable environment for our members and to have the skills and confidence to initially manage all types of situations appropriately.

We also have a pitch-side AED, courtesy of the Premier League Defibrillator Fund.

PARENTS AND CARERS

The FA provides the opportunity for parents and carers to support their child in their football journey with the FREE online safeguarding course.

RTGWFC is also pleased to advise that if they so wish, parents can access ECG checks for their child (12+) with a company called Cardiologic. The checks cost £30 and include a Cardiologist report. For more information, please email info@rugbytowngirlsfc.co.uk

ACKNOWLEDGMENTS AND SUPPORT

Like all grassroots teams, RTGWFC is part of a wider football and general community. During and in the immediate aftermath of the incident, we received support and guidance from a whole range of organisations.

First and foremost, recognition must go to the team manager and coach who managed what must have been a scary situation with calmness, efficiency, and confidence. Their quick thinking and actions certainly played an integral part in getting the player appropriate help as quickly as possible.

Leicestershire Women and Girls Football League Secretary / Welfare Lead, who supported the club in the aftermath of the incident with phone calls and emails, and checked in on the match official, who was also obviously upset by the events of the day.

RTGWFC Volunteers who supported after the event to ensure accurate reporting to the relevant organisations, and with immediate and ongoing support of the team coaches.

Birmingham County FA, who reviewed the incident report and confirmed RTGWFC had followed all required processes and communication and has offered ongoing support to all involved as required.

And finally, to the emergency services:

> Warwickshire Police
> West Midlands Ambulance Service
> Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance

The response was incredible and all the emergency workers involved were highly professional and compassionate, for which the whole club is extremely grateful.

As a gesture of thanks, RTGWFC will be raising money for Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance at our End of Season Event, and we hope that our members will support us with activities to contribute to our donation
